Royal Enfield has revealed the all-new Guerrilla 450 roadster at a launch event in Barcelona. It comes after months of spy shots and teasers.
The sporty Guerrilla 450 is the second model to use the Sherpa engine platform that debuted in the Himalayan 450 adventure bike. The brand hinted that there could be at least two more future models to feature the engine platform.
Royal Enfield says the Guerrilla’s liquid-cooled 452cc single cylinder engine features slightly different mapping, but power and torque remain the exact same as the Himalayan.
Also adopted from the Himalayan is the round 4-inch colour TFT display which features two ride modes and smartphone connectivity.
But the Guerrilla does offer a few key points of difference to the Himalayan, such as a 17-inch front wheel, a conventional fork, a lower seat height, and a lighter wet weight of 185kg. It also has a smaller fuel capacity of 11L.
There will be two variants of the Guerrilla – a base model with an analogue dash, and a premium model with the TFT display. There is also a range of colour options available.
Stylistically, the Guerrilla sits between a naked bike and a scrambler, with Royal Enfield using a unique marketing campaign to give the model a modern and edgy persona that should appeal to a younger audience.
The bike will likely compete with the KTM 390 Duke, the Triumph Speed 400, the Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, and the Harley-Davidson X500.
Royal Enfield says it is expecting the Guerrilla to outsell the Himalayan internationally, but couldn’t say if the same will happen in Australia – a typically adventure-focused market.
Local pricing and availability are yet to be announced. Stay tuned for the full bikesales review on July 27.
