Royal Enfield will team-up with American multinational tech firm Qualcomm to introduce innovative real-time connectivity on its Flying Flea C6 electric model.
The unique collaboration will see the Flying Flea C6 make use of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon QWM2290 system-on-chip (SOC), which is designed specifically for two-wheel vehicles, and the Snapdragon Car-to-Cloud platform.
Put simply, the Qualcomm tech will power the Flying Flea’s infotainment and connectivity functions through a 3.5-inch round TFT display and on-board 4G, Bluetooth, and WiFi. It will include unique features such as a dedicated Voice Assist button and the ability to use a mobile phone as smart key to unlock and start the bike.
Qualcomm’s Nimish Shrivastava explained: “Connected services are fundamentally transforming the 2-wheeler and micromobility markets, providing riders with real-time diagnostics, advanced navigation, and personalised ride settings – all of which enhance the safety and convenience of their journey. We are proud to see the Snapdragon Car-to-Cloud platform be part of this exciting evolution.”
The Flying Flea C6 was first revealed in November ahead of the EICMA show in Milan. It is Royal Enfield’s first electric motorcycle and is aimed at urban riders and commuters.
Royal Enfield’s EV boss, Mario Alvisi, said the collaboration with Qualcomm was a “significant step” in the development of the bike.
“Flying Flea is more than a new brand from Royal Enfield – it is a whole new approach in which we are deeply invested in terms of ground-breaking infrastructure, authentic design philopsopy, and modern technology,” he explained.
“While all aspects of our connected electric motorcycle have been developed in-house by our dedicated technical team, our work with Qualcomm is a significant step in our effort to build advanced EV technology and create a unique and differentiated product experience in the global electric mobility space.”
The announcement of the Qualcomm partnership was made as part of the CES tech show in Las Vegas. The Flying Flea C6 is not expected to arrive before 2026.
