Rossi scores Fiat backing
The Yamaha MotoGP team, with Valentino Rossi and Colin Edwards as riders, will score sponsorship from car giant Fiat for the coming seasonThe deal will be announced on Monday, March 5, and has fuelled speculation that this may lead to closer ties between the multi world champ Rossi and Ferrari.
While Rossi has shown a strong interest in rally driving with Subaru, it’s no secret that Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone is keen to see the Italian add some fire to the F1 circus, and Ferrari would be the perfect vehicle.
Meanwhile Euro company Vanjey-Design has jumped the gun on the announcement and shown its own version of what the Fiat-backed Yamaha could look like in the first season of 800cc racing.
