Rossi’s leathers pull in $35K!

After 123 bids for the leathers Valentino Rossi wore in the recent Italian Grand Prix at Mugello, the auction finally came to a close at the massive price

The on-line auction for the Dainese leather suit Valentino Rossi wore during the Italian Grand Prix at Mugello, in memory of his late friend Marco Simoncelli, has been snapped up for a cool €24,001 (AUD34,790) after 133 bids. The auction started on June 18, opening with a minimum bid of  €1.

Proceeds from the auction will be given to the Simoncelli Foundation for the Santa Marta project, a day care centre for the disabled that is being built near Coriano, Marco's birthplace.

The suit, signed by Rossi, will be presented to the lucky winner inside a special display case.

Rossi finished third at Mugello behind Marc Marquez and Jorge Lorenzo.
