Rossi R1 sells for $30,000

One-off bike bought by local

Do you remember the one-off Rossi Yamaha R1 that was being auctioned on Ebay for charity recently?

It has found a home in Australia - bought by local enthusiast Johny Arkisian for a hefty $30,000.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation was the lucky recipient.

Arkisian's machine was displayed at the Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane bike shows recently, and was painted in a stunning one-off scheme that took Brown's Grafix over 225 hours to complete.

Rossi gave the bike the thumbs up and added his autograph at the Phillip Island MotoGP event in October.

The organizers of the auction say Arkisian was elated to discover his bid had been the highest and was looking forward to receiving the bike this week. "We are extremely happy to be given the opportunity to purchase the Valentino Rossi Tribute Bike and it is fantastic to see the profits going to such a good cause in the Make-A-Wish Foundation," said Arkisian.
