As we reported here, Valentino Rossi lodged an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), seeking annulment or reduction of the penalty that he was handed down by Race Direction following his altercation with Marc Marquez during the Malaysian Grand Prix.
On November 4, a preliminary hearing was held at the headquarters of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne in the matter of Valentino Rossi v. the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme.
Following the hearing, the CAS issued an order dismissing the application for a stay filed by Rossi.
As a consequence of this ruling, at the Gran Premi de la Comunitat Valenciana, the last race of the FIM World Championship Grand Prix, Rossi will start from last position on the Grid.
Rossi leads his Spanish rival and Yamaha team-mate, Jorge Lorenzo, by seven points, with 25 for a win, before a grand finale that has been overshadowed by controversy since the events in Malaysia.
