Rossi, Hamilton to swap machines

Monster deal sees Rossi in a Mercedes F1 car; Lewis on a GP-spec Yamaha

The gestation has been longer than an elephant but a Monster is about to deliver on its promise to have MotoGP star Valentino Rossi and F1 champion Lewis Hamilton to swap machinery.

The swap was first suggested a couple of years ago and
motorsport.com now reports the swap will occur on December 9 at Valencia, a week after the F1 season finale in Abu Dhabi.

Hamilton and Rossi are both backed by energy drinks-maker Monster.

The switch will be the first time Hamilton has ridden a MotoGP machine, although he has experience on high-end motorbikes after spending two days testing with the Yamaha WSBK team last year.

Rossi is no stranger to the power of an F1 four-wheeler, having tested for Ferrari several times in the past 15 years, reportedly coming within 0.7 seconds of Michael Schumacher’s time in a 2006 test.

The Doctor is also scheduled to race a Ferrari 488 GT3 at the Gulf 12 Hours at Yas Marina the weekend after the Monster deal.
