When the news emerged in late 2010 that multiple GP world champion Valentino Rossi was signing a contract to ride for the Ducati team, legions of Ducatista and Vale fans went absolutely troppo.
The news caused celebrations in Italy and Ducati knew that promoting its motorcycles would get a little bit easier with the world's most recognisable motorcycle racer endorsing its products.
And now the company is leveraging Rossi's fame with new paint schemes that will become available for not just its Monster range (pictured) but across other models in the range.
The red of the Monster 796 and Rossi's trademark dayglo yellow don't exactly mesh in an aesthetic sense -- and if you look at Nicky Hayden's version, it actually looks a lot more integrated.
Expect to see the bright yellow '46' on a range of different motorcycles in the near future, particularly if Rossi can nab a few podiums early in the season.
For now, check out the Ducati Monster Art personalisation package and imagine how peculiar the Multistrada would look with a bright yellow 46 on it...
