Rossi appeals Malaysia decision: updated
Appealing against the decision made by Race Direction in the now infamous clash with Marc Marquez at Sepang — and Lorenzo also wanted his say as well!Valentino Rossi has lodged an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), seeking annulment or reduction of the penalty that he was handed down by Race Direction after his altercation with Marc Marquez in the Malaysian GP at Sepang on October 25.
He further requests stay of execution of the decision in accordance with Article R37 of the Code of Sports-Related Arbitration.
To add even more spice to the appeal, his teammate Jorge Lorenzo — who's just 7pts behind the Italian ahead of the final round at Valencia this weekend — also sought to become involved through a "request for intervention" filed on November 2, but that has been knocked on the head by CAS.
Rossi's appeal is on the basis of Article 3.4.2, para 3 of the FIM Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix Regulations, against the decision taken by the Race Direction, and then confirmed by the FIM Stewards, to award three penalty points to Rossi following an incident on Turn 14.
A decision on Rossi’s request for a stay is expected to be issued no later than November 6, 2015, with the final round due to start at Valencia on that same day.
