Yamaha Factory Racing's biggest assets, riders Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi, made their first public outing together as new team mates in Jakarta, Indonesia, this week.
Along with Yamaha Motor Racing boss Lin Jarvis, the riders were on hand in the Indonesian capital to unveil one of the team's key sponsor's new logos, Semakin di Depan (aka Yamaha Motor Indonesia).
As well as the usual meet and greet with the Yamaha's Indonesian top brass, Rossi and Lorenzo were also there to shoot a new TV advertisement for Yamaha in the Indonesian market, which is sure to be a hit on Youtube when it's released. Though we're not sure it'll be quite as high quality as the 'reunited' video at the bottom of this page...
Valentino Rossi was clearly upbeat during the press conference in Jakarta, predicting podium finishes after a forgettable tenure with Ducati in 2011 and 2012.
"I cannot wait for another opportunity to ride the M1. I think the Yamaha Factory Team will be very strong this year with myself and Jorge," said Rossi.
"For me at this moment I have to be a little quiet and try to understand what my level is with the bike after the first test. My last Grand Prix victory was in 2010 so my first goal is to come back onto the podium as soon as possible, and to try to win a race."
Meanwhile Jorge seemed relaxed and comfortable with his new team mate.
"I’m feeling very positive about the 2013 season," he said, "I think the arrival of Valentino is good and we have a very strong team now. I know he is a very talented rider. We will start trying the new bike in Sepang at the next test; I think we have a great chance to be World Champion again."
