Roehr superbike gets green light

American twin to be supercharged

After several years of at times slow development, the Roehr V-twin superbike looks like it will get the green light to go into limited production.

The brainchild of engineer Walter Roehrich, the machine will be undergoing some significant upgrades since the prototype was launched in Ducati-like livery.

Though the company is tight-lipped on the exact details, we're told the styling has changed completely from what you see here, and much of the tech spec has been upgraded.

For example, while the machine will stick with a version of Harley-Davidson's V-Rod powerplant, it will be bumped out to a capacity of 1250cc and fitted with a Rotrex supercharger for a claimed horsepower figure of 180hp.

Called the V-Roehr 1250SC, it will feature Ohlins suspension, Marchenisi wheels, a single-side rear swingarm, Brembo brakes and carbon-fibre bodywork.

As you might expect, the price will be substantial - around US$45,000 (Au$52,000).

The first examples are expected to see daylight in mid-2008.
