Now that his competition days are numbered, we haven’t spoken a lot about freestyle guru Robbie Maddison in recent times. Mind you, he’s still been busy, and was the chief stunt rider on the last James Bond movie, Skyfall, as well as turning his hand to a number of other projects.
But it wasn’t really freestyle competition which made him a household name in Australia – his legend transcended further than that thanks to the one-off stunts such as leaping across the Corinth Canal in Greece, a football field in Las Vegas and the San Diego Harbor, as well as backflipping over the Tower Bridge in London and taking on a 15-metre freefall from the top of the Arc de Triomphe at the Paris Las Vegas hotel.
Now he’s back at it again, at the Utah Olympic Park in Park City, Utah. First up he attempts the luge track as a kind of primer, and then he hits the ski jump at 113km/h and flies for 114 metres. It’s great to have him back…
