Troy Bayliss, Jason Crump, Stephan Gall, Chris Hollis, Wayne Maxwell, David Armstrong, Vaughan Style, Phil Lovett, Barry Cockle, Damian Cudlin, Paul Caslick and Josh Hook recently spent a weekend honing their dirt track skills – or more precisely getting back up to speed, as many are already former national dirt track champions.
The group even also surprised a group of young riders and spent time assisting Caslick at a junior motorcycle clinic.
“We are about to see what happens when you put 24 highly competitive riders from a range of disciplines on one track,” said Bayliss. “Everyone is competitive and on the pace, it’s going to be an amazing event.”
Crump, the recently retired three-time world speedway champion, is also looking forward at going head-to-head with some of Australia’s current motorcycling champions.
"We've had heaps of fun testing,” said Crump. “I can't wait to get into it -- the racing at Old Bar is going to be unreal."
A full day of flat track action will begin from 9.30am when gates open and the final touches are put on race bikes as riders ready for the event.
From 10.00am the timed practice sessions will begin to give an early indication of pace and form over a lap on the challenging oil-based circuit.
Round one will begin from midday, with over 175 riders – local competitors in addition to the Pixado Troy Bayliss Classic All-Stars and Legends – laying down the first laps for position and points over 33 races.
Round two will follow, with a further 33 races to be run in the afternoon.
Superpole for the Troy Bayliss Classic will then be held, with each rider given a clear track to set their fastest time.
Round three and a further 33 races will determine event finalists who will run off for major positions under lights.
The event will conclude with champions from vastly-different backgrounds eyeing off top prize.
