The second national Ride Your Motorcycle to Work Week (RYMWW) will be held from October 22-26.
Supported this year by Australia’s newest world champion and off-road legend Toby Price, it’s hoped the initiative will urge riders who opt for warmer means of transport over winter to get their bike up to a safe and road-worthy condition at the beginning of the warmer riding season.
And with the concentration of more motorcycles on the roads during the five-day RYMTWW window, it’s hoped all road users will be more aware of motorcycles ahead of the popular riding period.
“Skipping across sand dunes at speed, I rely on a well-maintained and reliable bike to get me home,” newly crowned Cross Country Rallies World Champion Toby Price said.
“The risks of racing are very different, but riding on the road demands the same approach and management. Before you start your commute or riding season, make sure [your bike’s] up for the job and make sure it will get you home.”

The FCAI is also hoping to target riders who have been out of the saddle for an extending period of time, urging them to think about one of the very many refresher training courses available.
“We’re not preaching, we just want to get a clear message out there and about doing it safely,” an FCAI spokesman said.
