An overhauled Triumph Tiger 1200 adventure tourer is on its way and motocross legend Ricky Carmichael has put a prototype through its paces in a newly-released video.
The clip shows Carmichael piloting the new Tiger 1200 on both dirt and tarmac, before he tackles a full-size motocross track on the big-bore dual-sport machine.

While information on the new model is scarce, recent teaser shots suggest the bike will have more off-road capability than the current version, with a 21-inch front wheel, a slimmer and lightweight build, and a more powerful triple-cylinder engine.
If Carmichael's feedback is anything to go by, then the new Tiger 1200 will almost certainly offer a more versatile package. "Hell yeah," said the motocross icon. "This thing is like a Tiger 900 on steroids."
There is no word on a full-reveal or availability yet, but we expect to learn more about the new Triumph Tiger 1200 adventure tourer before the end of the year.
Carmichael, a 7-time AMA Pro Motocross 450cc champion, was recently announced as a Triumph ambassador along with enduro champion, Ivan Cervantes. The signing coincided with the news that the British marque will build a full motocross and enduro range.
Triumph’s entry into the modern motocross and enduro world also means it is set to enter major competitions around the globe including AMA Supercross and AMA Pro Motocross, as well as the MXGP World Championship, and possibly the EnduroGP and FIM Hard Enduro championships.
More information on the motocross and enduro models is expected in the coming months.
