Ricky Brabec takes Dakar Rally lead

Honda sweeps stage three podium, with American Ricky Brabec leading overall

Honda has taken control of the 2020 Dakar Rally, with a sweep of the podium in Stage 3. American Ricky Brabec won the tricky stage, which started and finished in Neom. He now leads the overall standings by almost 5 minutes.

Brabec’s Monster Energy Honda teammates, Jose Ingacio Cornejo and Kevin Benavides followed close behind in the stage rankings, with Red Bull KTM duo, Matthias Walkner and Australian Toby Price, rounding out the top-five.

Price has struggled following his Stage 1 victory but has moved up into sixth place overall behind Cornejo, Joan Barreda Bort (Honda), Walkner, Benavides and Brabec.

The initial results from Stage 3 were amended after a GPS issue was found to have affected all competitors. Organisers adjusted the results, with the 389km mark serving as the finish, despite riders completing 427 kilometres.
