Revised 2014 world superbike calendar

The South African round has now been cancelled, while Qatar returns to the calendar for the first time since 2009 in what will be a WSBK first – night races

Qatar is a late addition to the 2014 world superbike calendar, with the season-ending event to be held at the Losail International Circuit on November 2.

The venue was on the WSBK calendar for five consecutive years between 2005 and 2009. In 2014, the races will be taking place under floodlights for the first time. The impressive lighting system at Losail is powered by 44 13-megawatt generators and made up of 1000 structures, 3600 light bulbs and 500km of wires.

Meanwhile, the round scheduled for South Africa on October 19 has been cancelled, with infrastructure works not advanced enough to achieve FIM homologation. The series promoter, Dorna, is looking into the possibility of finding a replacement venue for that date.

The revised 2014 WSBK calendar is as follows:

  • February 23, Phillip Island, Australia
  • April 13, MotorLand Aragon, Spain
  • April 27, Assen, Netherlands
  • May 11, Imola, Italy
  • May 25, Donington Park, England
  • June 8, Sepang, Malaysia
  • June 22, Misano, Italy
  • July 6, Algarve, Portugal
  • July 13, Laguna Seca, America
  • September 7, Jerez, Spain
  • October 5, Magny-Cours, France
  • November 2, Losail, Qatar
