The iconic BMW K 1600 range has been given a much-needed update, with the new models expected to arrive on Australian shores in early 2022.
With four variants on offer, the proven K 1600 range receives a welcome technology boost, with a bunch of new features that bring it in line with other BMW models.
Headlining the new additions is semi-active suspension and a 10.25-inch colour TFT display as standard. There are also new LED lights, an updated audio system, and all the usual BMW electronic safety features and modes.

Interestingly, there is no mention of active cruise control, a feature that has already appeared on several other BMW touring models. There is also no Marshall speaker system following BMW’s recent partnership with the historic guitar amp company.
The brilliant six-cylinder engine has been slightly updated to meet Euro5 emission regulations. This includes BMS-O engine control, two knock sensors, and two additional broadband lamba probes.
There are also minor improvements in both horsepower and torque. Peak power remains at 160hp, but it arrives 1000rpm earlier than before. And there is also an increase of 5Nm in torque to 180Nm. Also new is the engine drag torque control function.
Opening the range is the base-level BMW K 1600 GT, which checks in at $41,120 (plus on-roads). It comes with an impressive list of standard features, however the other three models – the K 1600 GTL ($41,860 plus on roads), K 1600 B ($41,125 plus on roads) and K 1600 B Grand America ($43,740 plus on roads) – add even more tech, performance and styling features.
As is common with BMW models, there is a long list of options and accessories that customers can purchase to completely personalise their machine.
The first customer deliveries of the new BMW K 1600 models are expected to arrive in the first quarter of 2022. Head to bmw-motorrad.com.au for more information.
