Angus Reekie has retailed his S1 and S2 titles in the 2008 Australian Supermoto Championship, which concluded at Northam (WA) last weekend.
Reekie's double act wasn't a surprise, with the KTM rider having won 14 of his 16 races so far this year.
However, at Northam -- the round was held as part of a huge motorcycling festival - Reekie finally received a real challenge, in the form of world No. 2, TM's David Gozzini.
The Italian was undefeated in the four S2 races, while Josh McFarlane (Aprilia) pinched a race off Reekie in one of the big-bore S1 races.
"It's what we came here to do, to grab both titles," said Reekie. "I had a bit of an inconsistent weekend, but got the job done.
"It was pretty good racing - I had nothing left in the tank at all by the end. I tried to stay with Gozzini but he checked out a bit. Earlier in the day my lap times were matching it with him, so I am pretty happy with that."
McFarlane finished second in the S1 title from Honda's Ross Taylor, while Cru Halliday (Yamaha) and Linden Magee (Kawasaki) completed the top three in S2.
The final class, S3, belonged to Yamaha's Luke Triall from defending champion Luke Whitaker (Honda) and former Australian dirt track star Rowan Tegart (Kawasaki).
