Reed to again spearhead MoN team

And will be joined by Dean Ferris and Matt Moss in the three-rider Motocross of Nations team, with the event to be held in Latvia on September 27-28

Chad Reed, Dean Ferris and Matt Moss will represent Team Australia in the 2014 Motocross of Nations (MoN) at Kegums in Latvia on September 27-28.

Reed (Kawasaki) will compete in the MX1 class, Ferris (Husqvarna) in MX2 and Moss (Suzuki) in the Open class.

Reed skipped last year’s MoN, while Ferris scored two top five results as the mainstay in Australia’s excellent fourth place finish behind Belgium, America and Italy. Ferris started the year in America, but has recently been deputising for injured compatriot Todd Waters in Husqvarna’s world motocross team.

Meanwhile, Moss currently holds a commanding lead in the 2014 MX Nationals back in Australia ahead of the final round in Coolum (Qld) on August 30-31.

Kirk Gibbs and Luke Clout are the reserves, while Gar Benn is again the team manager – to be assisted by former Aussie star Michael Byrne.

“The Australian team is very strong, and all three riders have a lot of international experience," Benn said. "Both Chad and Matt have stood on the podium at the MoN before and Dean’s great ride last year should put Australia in a strong position in Latvia."
