Reed takes Bercy

Aussie champ nails supercross

Australian Supercross star Chad Reed has been crowned King of the world renowned Paris Bercy Supercross after a clean sweep of the three-day event which was held at the famous Palais Omnisports of Paris Bercy over the weekend.

Reed, who was a clear favourite with the sell-out Parisian crowd, dominated each night, winning eight of the nine Supercross races.

The 2004 AMA Supercross Champions only flaw was a second placing in the first moto on the opening night after poor start left him to fight back from the back of the sixteen rider pack.

This was Reed's third appearance at the historic event, which in celebrating its 25th year is now the most famous Supercross in Europe. While Reed was awarded the highest individual honour his results were also instrumental in securing third place behind the USA and France for the Rest of World Team.

Reed acknowledged he was back to his best and said the event provided a good warm-up for the impending AMA Supercross season.

"I couldn't expect a better result for my come back in Bercy," said Reed. "We came here to win and that is what we did."

"During the three nights I had to battle strongly with Grant Langston and Andrew Short, so it was a good event to prepare me for next season."

"The crowd was amazing, as always in Bercy, and I had a good time here in Paris."

"I am absolutely thrilled to take my first King of Bercy title, Reed added.

With only eight weeks until the start of the 2008 AMA Supercross season Reed will now head to California for an intensive testing program with the L&M/San Manuel/Yamaha team.
