Australia’s Chad Reed has produced a vintage display in the latest round of the AMA Motocross Championship at the Washougal MX Park in Washington on July 25.
Reed was totally in the zone, winning both races easily to extend his lead in the 450cc class to 65pts with four rounds remaining.
“I've just tried to be smooth (and) fast throughout the motos,” said Reed.
“The 30 minutes is the easy part. Today I felt strong. I just did what I had to do to win.
“I’m excited to be here this summer. I really felt as though this was my weakest link and I want to be stronger.
“I looked at everything that was going to help me be a better rider. I really want to step up in 2010 and challenge for that supercross title again.”
Thomas Hahn (Kawasaki) and Desalle Clement (Honda) finished on the podium in race one before the more familiar names of Josh Grant (Yamaha) and Jason Lawrence (Yamaha) followed the Aussie champ home in race two.
Of the other Aussies, Jake Moss (Honda) and Michael Byrne (Suzuki) were fourth in races one and two respectively.
Byrne is fifth in the title, with Grant and Andrew Short (Honda) completing the top three.
In the 250cc class, Brett Metcalfe (Honda) remains in third, with Ryan Dungey (Suzuki) and Christophe Pourcel deadlocked in first position.
The next round will be held in New York State on August 15.
