Reed returning to AUS-X Open in 2019

Australia's top supercross talent out to impress at Melbourne's Marvel Stadium on November 30

Tickets to see two-time world supercross champion Chad Reed in action at the Monster Energy AUS-X Open in Melbourne are on sale now.

Reed has confirmed he’ll be back on home soil to take part in the November 30 event at Marvel Stadium.

It is the first time the US-based rider has raced in Victoria since 2012, after injury forced him to sit out the 2017 event.

Chad Reed flies off a jump in last year's AUS-X Open in Sydney.

Reed couldn’t manage a victorious return to the event last year and was beaten by 2018 world champion Jason Anderson of the USA.

“I’m definitely looking for redemption, to come out and work hard and just be better prepared on all levels myself, the bike, the team, so I can hopefully take out that AUS-X crown,” Reed says.

Chad Reed does a Ricciardo-inspired "shoey" after winning the 2016 AUS-X Open.

“Getting back to Melbourne to race will be awesome, it’s been a long time since I’ve raced there, I love the city, and I’ve never been to Marvel Stadium before so I’m really looking forward to it.

“It's so hard to put into words the energy that you get at a stadium like Marvel, a stadium filled with 35,000-45,000 people, there's just nothing like it. And really, why I still, at 37-years-old, choose to do this as my day-to-day job. I love it, and I can’t replace that feeling and I’m always excited to come back for more.”

Reed’s opposition includes some of of the top overseas talent. Early confirmed entries include defending Australian Supercross champ Justin Brayton, along with the world’s eighth-ranked rider, Joey Savatgy.

Joey Savatgy says he's up for the challenge to racing Reed and the world's best on Aussie soil.

More riders will be announced in the coming weeks.

Special braces will have to be installed the car park to help support the 6000 tonnes of dirt needed to transform the Marvel Stadium surface into a purpose-built supercross stadium.

Tickets are on sale now and prices start from $39.95 (plus fees).
