Reed nails first win in 2012

After a steady but unspectacular start to the year, the Aussie champion has cut loose in Los Angeles to easily win round three of the AMA SX title
Honda-backed Chad Reed has claimed his first victory of the 2012 AMA Supercross Championship in round three at the Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles on January 21.
The Australian was at his irresistible best, moving into the lead on lap five of the 20-lap final and dictating terms until the finish.
He finished 2.968 seconds ahead of Ryan Dungey (KTM), followed by James Stewart (Yamaha) in his first podium of the year.
“It was awesome to bounce back after last weekend’s result," Reed said. "Week after week we are learning from our mistakes and we are doing all we can to make sure the momentum keeps moving forward.”
The victory was Reed’s 41st ‘main event’ win, and has moved him into second in the championship standings, just 4pts behind Dungey.
Australia’s other rider in the final, Brett Metcalfe (Suzuki), was fifth, behind defending champion Ryan Villopoto.
Round four is in Oakland, California on January 28.
