Chad Reed will contest the second round of the 2012 Terex Australian Supercross Championship, which will be staged at the 2012 AirAsia Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Phillip Island over October 27-28.
The 30-year-old racer, who is based in the US and is also the owner of his team, TwoTwo Motorsports, has been laid up with injuries for the past eight months, following a heavy fall at round seven of the 2012 AMA Supercross Championship at Dallas, Texas, on February 18. At the time of writing, Reed was set to make his return to competition at this weekend’s Monster Energy Cup in Las Vegas, Nevada. Provided that comeback goes to plan, Reed will then fly home to Australia to contest the Aussie SX title round.
Reed said the opportunity to compete on home soil before a packed Phillip Island crowd was simply too tempting to resist.
