Reed floored in massive crash

Fell while stalking leader Ryan Villopoto in the latest round of the 2012 AMA Supercross Championship, and he's now undergoing a battery of medical tests
Australia’s Chad Reed is currently in California undergoing an MRI and chest x-ray after a massive race-ending crash at round seven of the 2012 AMA Supercross Championship in Arlington, Texas.
While stalking championship leader Ryan Villopoto (Kawasaki) just prior to the halfway point, Reed suffered a horrific crash from his Honda which left him doubled over in pain and unable to continue.
Depending on the outcome of the battery of tests, Reed is now a doubtful starter for the February 25 round in Atlanta, and his absence could extend even further than that.
With Reed out of the picture, KTM’s Ryan Dungey finished in second place ahead of Jake Weimer (Kawasaki), Mike Alessi (Suzuki), Josh Hansen (Kawasaki) and James Stewart (Yamaha). Australia’s Bret Metcalfe (Suzuki) was eighth.
Villopoto now leads the championship by 13pts (158 to 145) over Dungey, with Reed now well back in third on 128. Metcalfe is sixth on 88pts.
