Record sales for H-D

Those of you waiting the 'Harley bubble' to burst, will have to be patient. It seems the American brand is going from strength to strength on the back of a strong global market.

From the Milwaukee PR machine: Harley-Davidson powers into the new year with record sales for 2005 to spur it on. The iconic brand made history recording the highest sales ever, a massive 22% increase on last year.

In Australia, new Harley-Davidson sales grew 23% to 4193 compared with 3411 in 2004. New Zealand also showed growth of 14% with the sale of 452 new bikes compared with 396 in 2004.

A contributing factor to annual growth was the huge December result, up a staggering 71% on December 2004. Bolstered by the exciting new 2006 models with enhanced value, December sales reached 562 bikes, 233 more than December 2004.

Harley-Davidson Marketing Manager, Adrian O'Donoughue, commented, "2005 was a landmark year for sales in both Australia and New Zealand. Our strategy of introducing superb new motorcycles with loads of features and more affordable prices hit the mark."
