Record number of WR owners make tracks
Cessnock hosts 62 owners of Yamaha's classic adventure bikesMore than 60 dedicated Yamaha owners brought their WR250R adventures bikes to Cessnock (NSW) for the two-day adventure ride.
A pair of riders even make the trip from the USA and hired bikes from the RideADV organisers to take part.
Rider ages ranged from 19-84 and the 62 entrants are believed to be a record for the most number assembled WR owners.
The route included slushy trails and dry tracks, along with lush forest and clay surfaces to keep the riders on their toes.
The areas covered included Yengo, Watagan, Corrabare, Werakata, Heaton, Sugarloaf, Pokolbin and Wollombi Forests.
RideADV spokesman Greg Yager says the event lived up to its adventure bike marketing.
“The weather produced some challenging conditions but once again there were few dramas and heaps of happy punters,” Yager notes.
“We’re claiming this as the largest ever gathering of WR250Rs in one place. If anyone knows different, please get in touch with us here or via our FB page.”
