Reardon's home town delight

Victory in round two of the Australian Supercross Championship for the Yamaha rider, and in front of his home fans

CDR Yamaha’s Dan Reardon raced to an enthralling victory at round two of the Australian Supercross Championship in Jimboomba, Qld on Saturday, October 17.

In front of a near capacity crowd, Reardon bought his home town crowd to their feet as he crossed the finish line 12 seconds in front of Kawasaki's Adam Monea, with defending champion Matt Moss (Suzuki) in third.

Reardon also took over championship leadership from Moss, by 2pts (67 to 65).

“It was a pretty intense start to the race but I was prepared to do that for the entire 20 laps if that’s what it took to get the win,” Reardon said. “My only concern with racing like that is that its slows the whole race down and you allow the other riders to stay a little closer but that’s how it played out tonight and I’m happy to get the win.

“It was awesome to again race in front of a big crowd. The atmosphere of the event was good all day and there were plenty of people in and around the pits so well done to Scott Bannan and his promotional team on a great event.

“I also want to thank my team and my mechanic Brad. We put a new tyre of for the main event to handle the hard pack dirt and that’s about, my bike was perfect."

The 20-lap final saw Reardon and Moss go hard from the start, but the battle was cut short when Moss made a mistake and Reardon raced off to a comfortable victory.

Reardon's teammate Kade Mosig was fourth from KTM's Kirk Gibbs.

Mosig is third in the standings on 54pts from American Gavin Faith (Honda, 54) and Monea (53).

In SX2, American Jimmy Decotis claimed back-to-back victories, leading the 15-lap final from start-to-finish to take the win ahead of fellow Honda rider Jackson Richardson and Wade Hunter (Yamaha).

"It feels awesome to get another win and to get so many cheers from all the Australian fans," said Decotis. “I really appreciate all their support, and I also have to thank everyone in the Penrite Honda team who have been looking after me so well and have given me the best equipment."

Round three of the championship will be held at Wayvillle Showgrounds in Adelaide on Saturday, October 31.
