Reardon returns

After an outstanding comeback season that included winning the Australian Supercross Championship, 28-year old Dan Reardon has recommitted to the CDR Yamaha team for the 2016 motocross and supercross season and armed with a YZ450F.

Reardon’s return to racing in 2015 was nothing short of remarkable. With next to no time to prepare, Reardon took up an opportunity to ride with the CDR Yamaha team and by the second round of the MX Nationals, he rewarded them with a moto win.

He continued to shake the rust off during the MX Nationals, finally securing a round win at Nowra and the comeback was gaining serious momentum. Reardon rounded out the MX Nationals in sixth place. With confidence growing and back in the swing of racing, Reardon hit the Australian Supercross Championship ready to roll and just six rounds later, he was holding the championship trophy aloft.

"I really enjoyed racing this year and it feels new and exciting to me again,” Reardon said. "I’m just motivated to go racing again and I didn’t want the 2015 season to end. The CDR Yamaha team took a chance on me and believed in me so I’m glad I will race with them again in 2016 and continue this amazing chapter in my life.

“For the first time in a long time, I’m actually looking forward to getting stuck into some good, hard pre-season training. In 2015 I was way under prepared for the MX Nationals, but now with our deal done and our direction set, I believe I can improve my results in motocross and still be a better rider in supercross," he added.

Reardon will join Dean Ferris at CDR Yamaha for 2016 to complete the rider line up. Ferris will be racing back in Australia after four years competing in the World Motocross Championship. The Reardon / Ferris combination has team owner, Craig Dack, anticipating big things in 2016.

“For 2016 we have assembled two riders that have had success on the world stage, have a tremendous work ethic and are ultra-professional in the way they prepare and conduct themselves. And they know how to ride a motorcycle fast,” Dack said.

Reardon will take a little time off over Christmas to assess a shoulder injury sustained at the final round of the Australian Supercross Championship, while Ferris will head across to New Zealand to work with Josh Coppins as he prepares to take on the New Zealand Motocross Championships starting in late January.

The first official outing in Australia for the team will be the opening round of the MX Nationals held in Victoria on April 3, in Horsham, Victoria.
