A production version of the Ducati DesertX concept is on its way, with the Italian firm set to reveal the new adventure motorcycle in December ahead of a 2022 release.
The original DesertX concept was revealed at EICMA in 2019 and got tongues wagging at the prospect of a hardcore Ducati dual-sporter in the same league at the Yamaha Tenere 700 and the KTM 890 Adventure R.

Ducati will unveil the new DesertX via its website and YouTube channel on December 9, 2021, but the company has already revealed some information about the new machine.
The 2022 Ducati DesertX will be powered by the proven 937cc Testastretta two-cylinder engine, and it will feature an all-new chassis and a 21-inch front wheel.
Based visually and spiritualty on the Ducati-powered Cagiva Elefant, which won the Dakar Rally twice, the new DesertX is designed as a rally-inspired, off-road capable adventure bike.
Ducati already has an adventure bike in its stable, in the form of the new Multistrada V4, however the DesertX will offer a middleweight and more dirt-friendly choice for dual sport riders. The Bolonga company also has the dirt-friendly Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled.
Further information is scarce and it is unclear how far the new model will differ from the original concept, but we do know that all will be revealed on December 9, 2021. Stay tuned!
