Kawasaki rider Toby Price has continued his scorching form in this year's International Six-Day Enduro in Portugal, improving three spots on day two to move into 15th overall.
Despite a frustrating muffler predicament - he used a Yamaha unit as a stop gap while waiting for his own replacement to arrive at a checkpoint - Price continued to push hard, and a top 10 finish is now a realistic goal if he holds it altogether.
In the E2 class, Price lies in sixth, less than 90 seconds behind the leader, TM's Rodrig Thain.
In the overall standings, Price is just over two minutes behind Finland's Samuli Aro (KTM), who is just holding sway in a pulsating, see-sawing battle against E1 rider Eero Remes (KTM) and fellow E3 competitor Christophe Nambotin (Gas Gas).
Another Aussie to surge on day two was Chris Hollis (Husqvarna), who is 26th overall after climbing seven spots. Hollis is now ahead of fellow World Trophy riders Stefan Merriman (Yamaha, 29th), Jarrod Bewley (Yamaha, 35th), Glenn Kearney (Husqvarna, 40th) and Kirk Hutton (Yamaha, 63rd).
In the World Trophy, Australia was bumped a spot on day two, and is now fifth behind France, Finland, Italy and Sweden.
In the Junior Trophy, Australia is soldiering on with Josh Green (Kawasaki), who blew an engine on day one.
But thanks to some solid work by Geoff Braico (KTM), Nick Beattie (Yamaha) and Andrew Lloyd (TM), Australia is already back up to 11th, with Spain the new leader from France.
The all-Yamaha trio of Jemma Wilson, Alison Parker and Jacqui Jones are third in the Women's Cup class.
