Racing: Three Aussies in 2010 world speedway mix
Plus a Briton who calls Australia homeThe full line-up for the 2010 Speedway World Championship has now been finalised, with three Australian riders named in the 21-rider roster.
Jason Crump will return as world champion in 2010, where he will be joined by Chris Holder in the list of 15 qualified riders. Holder scored a world title ticket through a number of qualifying rounds.
A local wildcard will complete the list of 16 riders at each round, while Davey Watt has been announced as one of five substitutes, who will be called upon if one or more of the permanent riders is unable to compete.
But the Australian connection doesn't end there, with British rider Tai Woffinden, a long-time resident of Perth, also one of the qualified riders. Woffinden lists Australian Rules football as his favourite sport, Aussie hip hop as his favourite music, and Mullaloo Point Beach in Western Australia as his favourite place, so he must be a bona-fide local. And I'm sure if he had a favourite entrepreneur, it would be Alan Bond…
