Racing: Reed untouchable in Brisbane

Makes it consecutive Super X titles

Kawasaki's Chad Reed has wiped the floor in the seventh and final round of the Monster Energy Super X title at the QSAC stadium in Brisbane.

Held in treacherous conditions after the heavens opened halfway through the lites final, Reed toyed with the opposition in the truncated decider, easily winning all three five-lap races. American visitor Davi Millsaps (Honda) was second overall ahead of Yamaha's Jay Marmont.

Suzuki's Matt Moss was also in the thick of the finals action in front of nearly 25,000 spectators before a terrible crash in the whoops saw him fracture his L5 vertebra in two spots. The injury expected to recover in time for the opening round of the 2010 AMA supercross title on January 9, where Moss will make his debut with the Suzuki factory team.

Reed retained the Super X title, 21pts ahead of Honda's Daniel Reardon, and 23 to spare over Marmont.

Reardon finished fourth in Brisbane, with Daniel McCoy (KTM) rounding out the top five.

"Tonight was awesome," Reed said.  "I was really happy to get the job done and come out of the series not only a winner, but fit and ready for the 2010 AMA supercross season.

"That would have to be the best track I have ever seen in Australia. It was easily on par with anything that I have raced on in the US and I take my hat off to the track builders.

"I have had two weeks of solid testing with the team and the bike was amazing, I really, really felt comfortable on it. Tonight has left me super keen to get through Christmas to January and the start of the AMA Supercross season."

Matt already had the lites championship wrapped up, but the competition was intense for the round win and minor places in the championship. There were three different winners in the triple challenge final: American Kyle Cunningham (Yamaha), Brendan Harrison (Yamaha) and Lawson Bopping (Suzuki) as the rain set in.

Cunningham was the overall winner, the same position he finished in the title, ahead of Bopping.

Monster Energy Super X will return to Australia and New Zealand in 2010, with the series calendar to be released early in the New Year.
