Racing: Rare trials treat for Aussies

Competing in France ahead of Trial des Nations

It doesn't happen very often, but this weekend we'll have some Aussies competing in rounds of the junior and women's world trials titles in France.

Young gun Kyle Middleton and compatriot Lewis Nolan will contest the junior class at Isola, with the former getting in some hard competition before he joins Trevor Campbell, Dylan Rees and Colin Zarczynski in Australia's team to contest the 2009 Trial des Nations in Italy the following weekend.

The three Aussie women, Kristie McKinnon, Michelle Coleman and Lonie Brooke, are also in the same boat, with the standard of competition a quantum leap above what they are used to.

The trio will come up against brilliant Spanish rider Laia Sanz in France, who is beyond reproach as the best women's rider in the world.

In fact, Sanz regularly competes against the men and teaches them a thing or two - unlike Michele Wie in golf…
