Factory Kawasaki riders Jonathan Rea and Tom Sykes took the race-winning accolades in round four of the 2018 Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK) at Assen in the Netherlands on April 21-22.
In race one, Rea stormed to his third win of the season – and his eighth consecutive Dutch success – over Michael van der Mark (Pata Yamaha) and Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati), and in the second Sykes took maximum advantage of pole position to nail his first win of the season.

Rea was second in race two, ahead of van der Mark, and now leads the championship by 30pts (159 to 129) over Davies, followed by Marco Melandri (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati, 115), van der Mark (103) and Sykes (101).
Melandri was well below his best at Assen with 6-7 results.

In world supersport, Frenchman Jules Cluzel (Yamaha) came out on top, from Randy Krummenacher (Yamaha) and Raffaele De Rosa (MV Agusta), while Australia’s Anthony West (Kawasaki) didn’t compete after crashing in practice and fracturing his right wrist.
West’s compatriot Lachlan Epis (Kawasaki) retired with a technical problem.
The next round of the championship is at Imola in Italy from May 11-13.
