Racing: 2010 provisional competition calendar

Motorcycling Australia (MA) has released its 2010 domestic competition calendar, with all dates and locations still provisional.

The calendar is as follows:

JANUARY
2 Australian Solo Speedway Championship, Rd1, Gillman, SA
3 Australian Solo Speedway Championship, Rd2, Mildura, Vic
9 Australian Solo Speedway Championship, Rd3, Newcastle, NSW
16 Australian Under 21 Solo Speedway Championship, Mildura, Vic
23 Australian 350cc Junior Speedway Championship, TBA
22-24 17th International Island Classic, Phillip Island, Vic
29 Australian Under 16 Speedway Championship, Tamworth, NSW

FEBRUARY
6 Australian Senior Long Track Championship, Tamworth, NSW
26 Superbike World Championship, Rd1, Phillip Island, Vic

MARCH
28 Australian Motocross Championship, Rd1, Horsham, Vic

APRIL
3 Australian Speedway Sidecar Championship, Newcastle, NSW

Dates are yet to be announced for the following:

  • Australian Quad Motocross Championship, Busselton, WA
  • Australian Senior Dirt Track Championship, Mildura, Vic
  • Australian Junior Dirt Track Championship, Kurri Kurri, NSW
  • Australian Junior Long Track Championship, Somersby, NSW

Dates and locations are still to be announced for the following:

  • Australian Off Road Championship
  • Australian Junior Motocross Championship
  • MRRDA National Junior Cup
  • Australian Superbike Championship
  • Australasian Safari
  • Australian Supercross Championship
  • Australian Supermoto Championship

Meanwhile, a new joint venture company, 'Australian Road & Track Rider Promotions Pty Ltd', has been formed, and it will run two road racing titles in 2010 outside of the Motorcycling Australia jurisdiction.

AASA, which has  a background in car racing, is the new sanctioning body, and the joint venture partners are Winton Raceway, Wakefield Park Raceway, Eastern Creek Raceway; AVE TV and the Australasian Superbike Championship Company.

Understandably, the rounds of both the titles will be held at the aforementioned circuits, with the full calendars as follows:

Australian Formula Xtreme Championship Series:
Rd1 March 26-28, Wakefield Park Raceway, NSW
Rd2 June 4-6, Winton Raceway, Vic
Rd3 July 2-4, Eastern Creek Raceway NSW
Rd4 September 10-12, Wakefield Park Raceway
Rd5 October 29-31, Eastern Creek Raceway

Australasian FX Superbike Championship Series (day/night)
Rd1 December 3-4, Eastern Creek Raceway
Rd2 December 11-12, Wakefield Park Raceway
Rd3 December 18-19, Winton Raceway
