QBE to take on eBike insurers

With the UK insurer withdrawing from the Australian market, QBE is offering a smooth transition for affected customers to find a new home

Following the decision of UK-based insurer eGroup - which trades under the eBike and eCar business names - to withdraw from the Australian market, QBE Insurance has been announced as the "recommended insurer" to take over its pool of clients.

Of course, existing eBike customers will be under no obligation to make the transition to QBE, but as a matter of course each one of them will now be contacted prior to the expiry of their current policies.

Bike customers can also contact QBE, tel 1300 095 839 or email egroup@qbe.com, to talk about their options.

"We are excited about the opportunity to further expand our motor portfolio in Australia and we obviously look forward to assisting the customers of eGroup through this transition to QBE," said Tony MacRae, the Executive General Manager at QBE.

MacRae also confirmed that a dedicated team has been established to ensure a smooth process for those customers who choose to transfer their motorcycle (and car) policies to QBE.

eGroup entered the Australian market in 2007, but has now withdrawn to focus on its rapidly expanding core business in the UK.
