The bike has much in common with the current model, but there is also a substantial list of changes. A visual give-awy to the new model is it now runs twin mufflers. We also undertand it's a little heavier than before (around 7kg) but claims more power.
Here's what the company had to say about them: At the heart of the GSX-R1000 is a new 999cc, 4-stroke, 4-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine generating increased power, torque and acceleration as the powerplant incorporates forged aluminium-alloy pistons, chrome-moly shotpeend connecting rods, hollow camshafts, and a secondary balancer shaft for reduced vibration.
The GSX-R1000's new more compact fuel injection system features the Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve System (SDTV) now with each injector having twelve smaller holes replacing the previous four-hole injector system for improved fuel delivery.
Between the cylinders, new larger 48mm ventilation holes reduce pumping losses while the crankcase breather system now features a reed valve to prevent pressure waves in the airbox from reaching the crankcase.
Suzuki's new engine management system is four times more powerful than the previous system and a handlebar-mounted switch allows the rider to choose from three engine settings to match riding conditions.
Utilising a trapezoidal shape as seen on works racebikes, the new bigger radiator has 10% more cooling capacity, while the oil cooler now works with a larger oil pump.
Suzuki's close-ratio, slick shifting, six-speed transmission with an adjustable back-torque limiting clutch allows smooth downshifts and a rack and pinion operating system provides more positive clutch feel while the new self-adjusting hydraulic clutch minimises changes in feel across long rides.
A new Idle Speed Control (ISC) system is incorporated for improved cold starting, consistent idle quality and reduced emissions.
The Suzuki litre sportsbike is equipped with a new, high-volume Suzuki Advanced Exhaust System (SAES) featuring equal-length header pipes that feed a unique under engine chamber leading to twin compact aluminium / titanium mufflers.
A new mid-pipe includes a Suzuki Exhaust Tuning (SET) system for maximum torque throughout the rpm range. An oxygen sensor used by the engine management system combines with the under-engine catalyser to further reduce emissions.
Meanwhile the company has released the 2007 versions of the GSX-R600 and 760, available in range of new colours. Prices are $14,990 and $16,990 plus ORC.
