Members from the TAC and Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Bellion from Victoria Police will appear before the committee, as will Mr Peter Baulch, who’s the Chairman of the Victorian Motorcycle Council.
Members of the public are welcome to attend the hearing, which wil be held between 10.00am and 1.00pm at 55 St Andrews Place, Melbourne.
The TAC advertisement created a whirlwind of discontent when it first went to air, galvanising a large number of motorcyclists to sign an on-line petition, and a top lawyer who specialises in road safety, John Voyage, said: “The approach from TAC leaves the public with the impression that if you are a car driver and you fail to give way, you’d better hope the motorcycle was speeding – you could get away with murder.”
Meanwhile, the reporting date for the inquiry into motorcycle safety has been extended to December 13, 2012.
