Product safety recalls: Ducati, Yamaha and Harley-Davidson

1. Ducati (Aust & NZ) NF Importers Pty Ltd DIAVEL Series MY2011-2014

Product description
Ducati Motor Holding has undertaken a voluntary vehicle safety recall affecting a specific VIN range of Ducati Motorcycles (DIAVEL series), MY 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014.

Identifying features
Target: 1082

What is the defect?
The license plate holder subframe may develop cracks over time.

What is the hazard?
If the license plate holder fails it may become a safety hazard for either the rider or other road vehicles.

What should consumers do?
The recall campaign involves fitting a license plate holder subframe to the rear suspension swingarm. A letter will be sent to affected owners. In addition, consumers can contact their nearest authorised Ducati dealer.

2. Yamaha MT09E/RE/SPE

Identifying features
Affected frame range: RN294000003 to RN294001074
Target: 690

What is the defect?
When the handlebars are turned from left to right the headlight lead wire may become stretched due to the insufficient length of the headlight lead wire. With repetition, the headlight coupler may become disconnected or the headlight lead wire may break near the coupler causing the headlight to turn off while riding.

What is the hazard?
If the defect occurs, and the headlight is inadvertently turned off this may pose a hazard to the rider and/or other road users.

3. Harley Davidson Motor Co 2014 H-D Trike and CVO Softail Hydraulic Clutch
Product description
Harley-Davidson Motor Company has determined that certain 2014 FLHTCUTG (Trike), FLSTNSE and FXSBSE model motorcycles built 22/03/2013 through 18/07/2014 (US) and 25/03/2013 through 20/08/2014 (outside US), equipped with original equipment Clutch Master Cylinders or Chrome Accessory Clutch Master Cylinders may have a condition affecting motor vehicle safety.

Identifying features
Recall campaign number: 0160

What is the defect?
These motorcycle models may develop a tear in the primary cup (seal) of their Hydraulic Clutch Master Cylinder piston.

What is the hazard?
If this condition occurs, the system may lose the ability to maintain enough lift to keep the clutch disengaged and if this condition remains undetected, it could allow the motorcycle to "creep" forward from a stop, which could lead to a loss of control of the vehicle possibly causing a crash.

Product description
Certain 2014 FLHTCU, FLHTCU TC, FLHTK, FLHTK SHRINE, FLHTP, FLHX, FLHX SHRINE, FLHXS, FLHTKSE and FLHRSE model motorcycles built 22103/2013 through 18/07/2014 (US) and 25103/2013 through 20108/2014 (outside US), equipped with original equipment Clutch Master Cylinders or Chrome Accessory Clutch Master Cylinders may have a condition affecting motor vehicle safety.

Recall campaign number: 0159

What is the defect?
