DriRider's Corso boots are a great fit for anyone after a retro-look with all the modern motorcycle footwear features, both in terms of comfort and safety.
I've been wearing these boots – which are made in Pakistan – for the past eight or so months, and they recently came through a Melbourne winter with flying colours. They have a HIPORA liner that is said to be both breathable and waterproof and I have no reason to refute that claim – they've kept my feet dry and comfortable through several downpours, and warm enough on frosty winter mornings.
They're comfortable enough too, requiring only a minimal break-in period, and they've been fine for walking around in once I've reached the office or some weekend motorcycle destination. I wouldn't want to set off on a full-day hike in them, but then that's hardly what motorcycle boots are about.
First and foremost, they're about protection. And while I haven't crashed in these boots – nor do I plan to – I can say they appear thoroughly sturdy in their construction, with double-stitched seams, and they come with shock-absorbing ankle protectors and reinforced heel, toe and shin areas.
The boots feature a full-grain vintage brown leather construction with polyurethane-coated black leather upper, along with flex panels front and rear for extra comfort.
The sole is really sturdy, and even with eight months of use it's barely showing any signs of wear. I can't say the same for the little red 'D' (for DriRider) applique on the heel – one of which fell off after just a few days.
The zips are top-quality YKK numbers and each one has a Velcro tab to help you pull the zip up and to secure it to the main Velcro closure pad at the top of the boot. And there's a loop at the back of each boot to help you pull the things on.
Each boot also has a reflective panel incorporated just above the heel, to help you stand out after dark.
If you're into retro or classic bikes in particular, these Corso boots are a great complement for DriRider's Scrambler jacket. The Scrambler also comes in brown, in a vintage look.
Apart from that little 'D' logo dropping off, I don't have a bad word to say about these boots – they're great buying at a recommended retail price of just $249.95. Available only in vintage brown, they come in a size range of 39 to 48.
