A product safety recall has been issued for Yamaha's XSR700, the notice affecting 2016 models with VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) numbers from 0000101 to 0000441.
According to Yamaha, the main switch wire may become worn by a metal guide on the steering head.
"If the wire lead is worn by the metal guide, this may potentially result in an electrical shortage between the lead and the main frame," says Yamaha.
Owners of the affected motorcycles will be contacted by Yamaha directly by mail. They should then arrange for an inspection and repair of the issue at their local authorised Yamaha dealer.
If an affected owner no longer owns the motorcycle, they should advise Yamaha of this on 1300 593 600.
