Product recall: Triumph Speed Twin

2019 to 2020 models potentially affected by gear shift issue, with 162 bikes recalled nationally

The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) has issued a product safety recall for Triumph's Speed Twin. The notice affects a total of 162 motorcycles spanning 2019 and 2020 model years.

According to the ACCC, "The gear shift lever may become loose from the ball joint, resulting in excessive movement at the end of the shift lever".

If the gear shift lever does become loose, "it may prevent the ability to change gear – this may lead to an increased risk of an accident and injury to vehicle riders and other road users".

The motorcycles in question were sold nationally between January 26, 2019, and January 30, 2020.

Owners of affected models should take their motorcycle to an authorised Triumph Motorcycles dealer to have the issue rectified free of charge.
