The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission recently issued a product safety recall for Kawasaki’s W800 retro bike, which affects examples built between January 6, 2011, and January 21, 2013.
According to the ACCC, “A bearing in the fuel pump may wear and cause an abnormal noise. Continued use may lead to decreased engine power and cause the bearing to break.”
Should the bearing in question fail, the fuel pump will stop working and the engine will stall and fail to restart, with obvious safety implications.
The following VIN numbers are affected:
EJ800ABF – JKBEJCA1?BA000108 to JKBEJCA1?BA004062
EJ800ABS – JKBEJCA1?BA004588 to JKBEJCA1?BA005149
EJ800ACF – JKBEJCA1?CA008003 to JKBEJCA1?CA010966
Owners of affected W800s should contact their nearest Kawasaki dealer to arrange to have the potential fault rectified.
