Product recall: Kawasaki Vulcan range

An issue related to the ECU

Kawasaki has issued a product recall for the following bikes: Vulcan 1700 Voyager, Vulcan 1700 Voyager ABS (K-ACT), Vulcan 1700 Nomad, Vulcan 1700 Nomad ABS (K-ACT), Vulcan 1700 Classic and Vulcan 1700 Classic ABS (K-ACT).

The defect is related to an “improper setting of the Electronic Control Unit”, which may cause the engine to stall under deceleration.

The recall relates to bikes sold between April 1, 2009 and December 21, 2010. Please see the attached image for the effected VIN range.

Kawasaki will write to owners of the affected vehicles, and owners are advised to return their bike(s) to their original selling dealer if possible, or alternatively any authorised Kawasaki dealer, who will perform the necessary repairs free of charge.
