The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) has issued a product safety recall for Honda's NBC110 step-through, with the notice affecting models sold from April 1, 2013, to the present.
The model is primarily supplied to Australia Post as a postal delivery bike for its employees, contractors and sub-contractors. While the recall notice fails to specify the number of affected vehicles the nature of the model and the age range of bikes involved means a significant volume of NBCs will be involved.
The model is Australia's top-selling bike, with over 1800 units registered to the end of September in this year alone.
According to the ACCC, "A manufacturing defect within the fuel pump may lead to reduced performance and affect the long-term durability of the fuel pump.
"Prolonged use of the motorbike may cause the fuel pump to fail and the vehicle may break down. If this occurs while the vehicle is in operation it may result in an accident to the rider or other road users."
Owners of affected vehicles should contact their nearest Honda motorcycle dealer to arrange for an inspection and repair.
