Toby Price has all but won the 2014 Yamaha Australian Off-Road Championship, and only a calamity in the final two rounds in Victoria on September 6-7 will deny the KTM ace.
Price, who recently won the Hattah Desert Enduro, returned to enduro competition at the AORC to dominate rounds seven and eight in Kyogle (NSW) on July 19-20, with Yamaha teammates Chris Hollis and Daniel Milner second and third in both outings. Price has now won five of the eight rounds.
Price now holds a 28-point (213 to 185) lead over Husqvarna’s Glenn Kearney in the outright standings, followed by Josh Green (Yamaha, 182), Hollis (176) and Milner (173).
There is a maximum of 50 points available on September 6-7, and if Kearney was to win both those rounds, Price could still finish second and claim the silverware.
“Today went pretty much according to plan” said Price of round eight. “I just cruised along and kept the KTM on two wheels. The main thing is I’m all fit and healthy, so roll on the final two rounds in Victoria.”
