Price clinches fourth off-road title

The 2014 Yamaha Australian Off-Road Championship has been won by KTM hard charger Toby Price from Daniel Milner and Glenn Kearney

KTM's Toby Price has won the Yamaha Australian Off-Road Championship for the fourth time, completing the business in Heathcote (Vic) on the weekend of September 6-7.

Price's overall victory in round 11 on Saturday was enough for him to build an unassailable lead in the championship, but it only came after the 27-year-old didn't get the best of starts and only moved into the lead late in proceedings.

“I just worked my way to front and finally got the lead,” said Price. The KTM team did a fantastic job in the pit stop, we were in and out pretty quick.”

The 2014 championship is even sweeter after injury woes ruined his 2013 campaign. “It's been a long year, and a lot of races going on. I can't thank the whole team enough, the sponsors and everyone involved! Where I was 16 months ago, to be back winning races and winning an off-road title again is an unreal feeling!”

Yamaha duo Beau Ralston and Daniel Milner completed the top three in round 11, and the finale on Sunday saw Milner – who recently won his second consecutive Australian Four-Day Enduro – win from Price and Ralston.

Price defeated Milner by 42pts (260 to 218) in the final standings, followed by Husqvarna's Glenn Kearney (211), Josh Green (Yamaha, 208) and Chris Hollis (Yamaha, 191).

Price also won the E2 class, with Tom McCormack (Yamaha, E1), Kearney (E3) and Jess Gardiner (Yamaha, women's) the other major winners.

Milner and Price will shortly be teammates in the 2014 International Six-Day Enduro in Argentina, where they will be joined in the Senior Trophy team by

Matthew Phillips, Josh Strang, Josh Green and Jarrod Bewley.

Lachlan Stanford, McCormack, Scott Keegan and Daniel Sanders, and the Women's team will be Gardiner, Tayla Jones and Jemma Wilson.

The ISDE will be held from November 3-8.
