On September 7 the FIM’s longest running off-road motorcycle competition will begin in Košice, Slovakia — the 90th edition of the International Six Day Enduro (ISDE).
More than 550 competitors from over 35 different nations will take to the startline of the week-long race, with Australia fielding teams across the men's (junior and senior), women's and club divisions on what is expected to be wet, muddy and demanding terrain.
Australia's women's team is the defending champion, and will again call on the talents of the same trio — Jessica Gardiner, Tayla Jones and Jemma Wilson — as it looks it to retain the trophy.
In the six-rider men's senior trophy division, the withdrawal of Toby Price and Josh Strang are big body blows for Australia, but with reigning world E3 champion Matthew Phillips (pictured), Daniel Milner and Josh Green leading the way hopes will still be high that a podium finish can be achieved, if not a victory if all the cards fall its way. Australia's three other riders are Lachlan Stanford, Beau Ralston and Glenn Kearney.
France is the defending champion and out to make it four in a row, and other strong nations include America, Spain, Great Britain, Finland and Germany.
Veteran David Knight will ride for Great Britain, and when the ISDE last visited Slovakia in 2005 he took out the outright individual honours.
In the junior world trophy, Tom Mason, Broc Grabham, Daniel Sanders and Tye Simmonds will represent Australia, which finished third in the 2014 event.
Bikesales will be running daily ISDE updates on our Facebook page.
